Ohi-Rail operates freight service from a Norfolk Southern Mainline connection at Bayard, Ohio, which is approximately 3 miles northeast of Minerva, Ohio. OHIC also connects with the Wheeling & Lake Erie at Minerva, Ohio, and at the extreme southern end of the line at Hopedale, Ohio, which is 34 route miles south of Minerva. Additional to route mileage, OHIC also operates the Minerva switching yard on the south side of Minerva. This facility is an ex-NYC hump yard and encompasses 32,000 track feet extending over a mile in length.
Traffic includes native kiln-dried hardwood lumber, pine lumber, plastics, C&D, and storage switch acounts.
Service on OHIC started on July 30, 1982 on this former CR (ex-NYC Alliance
Branch and PRR Tuscarawas Branch) line. The track between Bayard and
Minerva, including the yard, is owned by LWR, Inc. Trackage south of the
yard, including the Wolf Run Branch and Pekin Branch,
is owned by the State of Ohio.
